John Okay, since I’m a heart patient, I have to have no salt in my diet basically for the next year or two.

Adam Oh, no. That’s horrible.

John Probably forever. And so I’ve had to come up with ways of seasoning food that, you know, and other people need to go and lower salt. They need to know these things. And so I found a couple of products which I think are quite good as salt substitutes.

Adam This is a very good tip for people who can’t. Now, why can’t you have salt? What is the reason? What does salt do to the heart?

John It changes your electrolytic balance.

Adam And how is that bad for your heart?

John It makes your heart go into irregular heartbeats.

Adam Oh, okay. That wouldn’t be good.

John No. No. So that’s one of many things. It’s also hard on the kidneys. It has all kinds of issues. Okay. Now, I had a Goya Sazon Total or whatever, picked some time ago, but I’m going to bump that and go with Badia Complete No Added Salt. This is the Badia seasoning from the Mexican food provider. It’s a seasoning. Buy the biggest container of it that you can find, usually in a Mexican store. And Brennan has said that it saved my palate, is using this stuff on everything. It is a terrific all-purpose seasoning.

Adam What does it taste like?

John Well, if you smell it, you can smell all kinds of stuff in it. It’s got garlic and onion. It’s got the basic things, and it’s also kosher for people who worry about that.

Adam Well, our Jew money people will be happy.

John Yeah, it’s kosher, and it’s just a terrific garlicy, oniony, cinnamon, it’s got all kinds of stuff in it. It’s just an all-purpose seasoning. You dump it on everything and use it generously.

Adam Have you considered MSG?

John MSG is sodium.

Adam Oh, it is? Oh, that’s right, of course it’s Muto. Multi Mutaglamonate Studium Glamban Academy. Yeah. What is it again? What is MSG again?

John Monosodium glutamate.

Adam That’s what it is. Okay, give me the name of this product again because I may have to try that. It sounds good.

John Badia Sazon Completa. And it just says complete seasoning. And if you go to a Mexican mercado or a supermercado, they will have the big giant containers of it.

Adam Ask for it by name at your local mercado.
