John: I’ve got a product that was brought to my attention by somebody in a chat room.
Adam: Chat room or troll room?
John: I don’t know what to call them. But it was some… I forgot where it was. Usenet. And they claimed you could use this stuff. Mimi and I both did some research on this in various Reddit forums and elsewhere. And it turned out that this, what I’m about to tell you, is bullcrap. But the product is still a good product.
The product is Rust-Oleum 214944. It’s a number, you have to know that number. Specialty reflective spray. Semi-transparent, clear…
Adam: Oh, wait. Let me guess. You spray this on your license plate and the camera can’t see it?
John: At night.
Adam: Ah, I knew it.
John: When it flashes, it’ll black out the camera. It reflects so much. Well, many plates in some states are already reflective. And so that’s bullcrap. It doesn’t work. And it definitely doesn’t work during the day.
Adam: What kind of tip is this? What’s the tip?
John: It’s a great product! You can spray it on anything that needs… If you’re a bicyclist, you spray it on the back of the bike. It’s clear, it’s transparent, so it’s like a clear coat. You spray it on anything you want and it reflects amazingly. It lights up the street, it’s so reflective. It’s a terrific product. Paint your mailbox if you’re on a dark road.
Adam: Your dog? Can you do it on your dog?
John: You could spray paint your dog. I don’t think the dog would appreciate it, but you could spray paint the collar. Or the back of something if you’re a jogger. There’s a lot of possible uses for Rust-Oleum 214944 specialty reflective spray semi-transparent clear finish.
Adam: I’m going to get some for Tina. Thank you for this. She does a walk every morning. She gets up and before anything, she goes out for a walk with her weighted vest for half an hour. I said this morning, pretty soon it’s going to be dark. I don’t want her walking out there alone in the dark. Not for safety from people—she’s packing—but cars. So this would be great. I can spray paint my wife and she’ll be safe.
John: Well, you can spray paint the back of the pack she’s wearing or whatever. You can spray paint different things with it. But you have to follow instructions. The key to success, by the way—you have to be careful with all these sprays. You got to shake the crap out of it. Shake, shake, shake because it’s a bunch of little glass beads that have to be dispersed within the paint structure. Shake it a lot before you use it.
Adam: Shake before use, everybody.
