John: So the tip of the day today is an irksome tip. Because if you remember Jambo Jim… The guy who made CBD products.
Adam: Oh, right, Jambo Jim. Whatever happened to him?
John: He’s still around. What happened was he got put out of business by Rogan. Not intentionally. Rogan plugged his product, which brought him so much business that it caught the attention of the feds. He had some packaging violations and had to relabel everything. He couldn’t keep up and eventually went under.
That’s the downside of overnight success. It’s a shame because he was a great entrepreneur. Remember 10 years earlier when he started those snack packs?
Adam: Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
John: He sent us both subscriptions. They were monthly boxes of screwball snacks from around the country. He even had a clever name for it.
Adam: Right, that was such a good idea.
John: It’s depressing what happened with his CBD business. He had great products—high quality stuff.
Adam: Did he have CBD / THC? Maybe that caused the issues. He had all sorts of products, like teeth-pulling oil and more.
John: Teeth-pulling oil? I don’t remember that. Anyway, as a kind of tribute to him, there are a couple of companies carrying on a similar idea. They’d make great Christmas gifts.
One is Universal Yums, and the other is Try The World. They put together snack boxes from different countries. One month, it might be France, then Greece, or even North Korea.
They cost around $25 a box. You might find discounts online. Both websites are so similar I suspect they’re run by the same company, just marketed differently.
Adam: Interesting. Have you tried them?
John: Not yet. I just discovered them, but it’s a solid concept.
Adam: But shouldn’t the tip of the day be something we’ve actually tried?
John: I don’t think that’s a hard rule.
Adam: Well, I think it should be. I’m skeptical about French snacks, having been to France.
John: I’ve had plenty of international snacks in my travels, and these look good. I’m surprised they don’t include Sweden, which has an incredible variety of snacks.
