John: This is something that should have been caught—something everyone should catch on to and start doing. And I have one here in my hand.

Adam: And what are you holding?

John: A dash cam. Do you have one in your car? Everyone should have one. It’s the best way to protect yourself against insurance fraud and other things.

The one I’m holding—I actually have a couple of these, different brands. I bought one, but this particular one was sent to me for free from a company called Ombar.

Adam: Oh, wait a minute. Is John’s Tip of the Day out in the wild now? The PR company is like, “Hey, I got great placement for your dash cam on the No Agenda podcast.”

John: The Tip of the Day was designed to lure free product to me!

Adam: Get one for me too!

John: I’ll work on getting one for you, too. And I’ll get one for Brunetti since he created the segment. We need three.

This one is a three-channel dash cam. That’s what I’d recommend. The three channels are: a front-facing camera, a cabin-facing camera, and a rear camera, which is useful if you get rear-ended. You also want 4K resolution to read license plates.

Dash cams are valuable tools. One, you can collect footage as you drive around. Useful, especially in places that are going to burn to the ground. In Los Angeles, for example, you might want some mementos of what it used to look like.

And the other reason is protection. If someone runs a red light or hits you, you’ll have evidence.

Adam: How do you get the video off the dash cam? Do you have to connect it to the internet and create an account?

John: No, you just use a cable and hook it directly to the dash cam, or you can take the memory card out.

Adam: Does it come with a card?

John: Yes, a 64GB card, but I’d recommend upgrading to at least a half-terabyte. (Editor note: The Ombar Dash Cam supports up to 256GB SD cards.)

Adam: Does it come with a YouTube account for uploading to those Russian dash cam channels?

John: No, but you can also transfer footage via an app if you want. But I’m not dealing with that.

Adam: You should put up some of your footage. That’d be funny. I want the in-car camera of you driving around San Francisco.

John: I don’t really use the cabin-facing camera, but a lot of people do for TikTok videos.

Adam: You should be doing TikToks before it goes away.
