John: I had a rare power outage the other day.
Adam: Oh wow, you don’t have a gennie?
John: No, I don’t need one. It’s the first time in 20 years.
Adam: That’s not true. You had a power outage.
John: I’m talking about a real pot. I’m not talking about a momentary thing.
Adam: Oh, okay.
John: But this was late at night, like at nine o’clock—boom—power goes out, pitch black. Which is rare because I’m on the same circuit as the police department, the fire department, and they give us priority. So it was somebody hit a pole or something.
So Mimi gets all freaked out. The next two items would be blackout items. She got me some blackout items that are pretty cool. One of today’s is the Energizer Lights. It comes in a three-pack and it’s for power outages.
It’s like little flashlights that plug into the wall socket and stay charged. And then if the power goes out, it triggers these things to turn on, so you know where they are because it lights up that little area.
Adam: Oh, so you won’t stub your toe?
John: Yeah, exactly. Believe me, I had this go. I had to wall-hug to get to where I knew some flashlights were. I found it to be distressing.
Adam: Wow, what else did she get you? This is great.
John: Well, the other ones I’ll have on the next show. But this is the first one.
Adam: You know what we had in Holland growing up? A knijpkat. This is a Dutch product. Which means “squeeze cat.” I don’t know why. And you squeeze it repetitively, kind of like a handbrake, and it lights up. So it’s a flashlight.
John: Well, I like that idea of a thing that charges like that, but the problem is you still have to find it in a pitch-black dark, unless you carry it with you. That’s why I like these lights, because they light up.
Adam: You need it on a lanyard around your neck at all times.
John: By the way, the Energizer Lights are three in a box for about 20 bucks. Right now, they’re on Amazon Prime sales, so today’s the last day if you want to get them cheap.
The idea is solid. I don’t think it’s something I’m going to actually need, but if I do, I’ll have them. At least I won’t have to fumble around.
Adam: I’m going to see if I can find that knijpkat on Amazon.
John: Yeah, find it and post it. You send me a link.
Adam: Yeah, it’s Amazon Day, so it’s probably cheap too.
