If you are considering purchasing a flat-screen TV, I highly recommend looking into OLED models, particularly from LG Electronics. Recently, I visited Costco and noticed a 95-inch LCD TV at the entrance, priced at $1,400. It was made by a lesser-known company and, despite being labeled as OLED, lacked quality with faded visuals.

In contrast, LG OLED TVs stand out for several reasons. A couple of years ago, I bought an LG OLED TV, and the experience has been impressive. The TV is lightweight—around three pounds for a 60-inch model—with an ultra-thin screen. The most striking feature is the 100% viewing angle; unlike traditional LCDs that lose clarity when viewed off-axis, LG OLEDs maintain consistent brightness and color at any angle.

While OLED TVs are more expensive—hence considered somewhat elitist—they are worth every penny. They come with HDR (High Dynamic Range), enhancing color depth and contrast, making content more vivid and immersive. Although not all services broadcast in HDR, platforms like Netflix and some content on YouTube TV do, which significantly enhances the viewing experience, especially during sports or high-quality streaming.

Brands like Sony also produce OLEDs, but LG has specialized in them for years, delivering exceptional quality that makes their TVs a reliable choice. For those who appreciate superior color and clarity, LG OLED sets are an excellent investment.
