Adam Curry: …I had a 6:24 departure time, and everyone was trying to get on the flight, so it was chaotic. I had only 50 minutes between landing in Atlanta and catching my next flight to Amsterdam. It’s doable, but not if you’re 40 minutes late. They’d have to make up the time in the air. The boarding process was a nightmare; people were practically hanging off the wings by the time the plane pushed back from the gate. People were getting bumped off left and right, but I managed to make the flight.
Once on board, I was talking to the flight attendants about what happened and asked if they ever wait for connecting passengers. One of the younger flight attendants at the back, not up front, handed me my gluten-free meal by mistake—it was actually meant for Christina on the way back in two weeks. I hadn’t ordered it for this flight. She told me, “You should always order a special meal on airlines.” I asked why, and she explained, “If it’s overbooked or something goes wrong, they won’t kick you off.”
John C. Dvorak: Wow, that’s the tip of the day!
