It seems like Costco is rolling out a new four-pack of affordable Bordeaux, and I’m going there right after the show to see if they have it locally. It’ll be available everywhere eventually. The pack is getting attention on Instagram. It comes in a small wooden box and features the 2022 edition. There are four wines in the set: a couple of Bordeaux Supérieur and a couple of Premier Côtes de Bordeaux wines, including one from Cadillac, which is a region in Entre-Deux-Mers known for producing great wine. For some reason, that area consistently makes excellent wine.
The four bottles, in states that don’t add excise tax on alcohol, go for $29.95 or $29.99, which breaks down to about $7.50 a bottle. These wines are better than anything California produces at that price.
Adam Curry: “How can we identify this packaging?”
John C. Dvorak: “It’s easy to spot. The wine comes in a small wooden crate holding four bottles. There’s not much competition—Costco only does these little crates, so it’s pretty distinct.”
Adam Curry: “This is a huge tip! You always give us the best recommendations for affordable wines at Costco. This is a big deal.”
John C. Dvorak: “Yeah, they started doing this about 10 years ago with different vintages, including gold medal winners. Most of these wines are rated 90 points or above. I didn’t think much of it at first, but after trying them, I realized they’re an incredible deal.”
Adam Curry: “Is there a limit per customer?”
John C. Dvorak: “Nope, just load up.”
